Tips for Buying Plants Online

Plant shopping outside of the store is convenient because all it takes is just a few clicks and scrolls and then your dream plants are right at your doorstep. Still, even with its ease, there are few crucial things to keep in mind.

If you’re an avid gardener, then one of your greatest joys is going to your local nursery to buy plants and add them to your landscape! However, local nurseries have limited stock. They stock plants so long as they think that they’re going to sell for any given day. If you don’t go for the trendy plants and want something unique, you may have difficulty finding it in-store. Luckily, buying plants online exists! Customers can pick from a wide variety that may be otherwise unavailable. Plant shopping outside of the store is convenient because all it takes is just a few clicks and scrolls and then your dream plants are right at your doorstep. Still, even with its ease, there are few crucial things to keep in mind. If you’re interested in buying plants online, keep reading for tips.

1) Read Customer Reviews

It’s important not only to check out the website of the distributor, but reviews via Google and Yelp are helpful as well. While a rating system is a quick way to decipher satisfaction, reading through complaints gives you the most realistic and vital information that you need to know.

2) Don’t Skim Over the Fine Print

Online representations aren’t always what they appear to be. The picture that you see may represent the plant at its mature stage. However, the plant delivered to your door may be in its beginning stages. Also, you may find a description in the fine print telling you precisely what you’ll be receiving so that you won’t be surprised.

3) Consider the plant’s optimal temperature.

All plants are not native to your region. Some plants thrive well in warm areas while others grow well in warmer temperatures. You don’t want to find yourself disappointed when you buy a plant during the summer when it blooms best in spring or fall. Maps exist with color-codes designating a state’s coldest average temperature. Color-coded maps will help you to determine your zone so that you can make an informed decision about which plant to choose.

4)  Check the Online Return Policy

Make sure that the seller has a return policy. Make sure that the seller gives you plenty of time to decide if your plant is valuable. Typically, sellers that have a return and exchange policy will take the time to make sure that your plant has no damages.
