Spring is almost here, which means most people are getting their homes ready for spring cleaning. Once your house is clean from the long and cold winter, your lawn and landscape could also use some freshening up for the new season. Taking the time to clean up your yard will make all the difference for a beautiful landscape this spring!
Start your spring cleaning checklist by picking up your yard of any noticeable trash on your lawn, including litter from winter. You may not have any trash on your lawn, but others aren’t so lucky due to litterbug neighbors. If your neighbors are the type to leave out beer bottles or other glass bottles, be sure to use heavy work gloves to keep your hands safe from broken glass.
Once any litter has been removed from your lawn, it’s time to rake up the leaves and remove dead grass. In fact, even if you’re lucky enough to not have any leaves on your yard, you should still rake at the beginning of spring to control thatch build-up. If you decide to compost your yard waste this season, dump any leaves and dead grass into the compost pile.
Trees and Shrubs
Trees and shrubs may have been damaged by the winter weather, so spring is a great time to prune the branches back to live stems. If you are unable to reach a few tree limbs, make sure you call a professional tree-trimmer to help out.
