Clean up Leaves and Debris

The busy holiday season has just ended and it is understandable if you have not gotten a chance to get every single leaf that has fallen in your front or backyard. Now is the time to clean up any debris from your lawn. Fallen leaves and tree branches can leave unattractive dead spots in your lawn. You can use a rake or broom to easily sweep away debris into a trash bag.

Avoid Walking or Driving Over Lawn

A simple tip to keep your lawn ready for the springtime is to avoid walking over a frozen lawn. A frozen lawn is more vulnerable to bare spots when it is repeatedly walked on. Driving over a frozen lawn is detrimental to a lawn as well. Brown spots may occur in your lawn from walking or driving.

Fertilizer

Yes, you can still fertilize your grass in the winter season. You should only fertilize it during the early part of the winter season, preferably in late December through early January before snowstorms typically hit. There are winterizing lawn fertilizers to help your lawn stay strong and ready for the spring season.
